Parentalk is a charity dedicated to inspiring and equipping parents. Our resources and services are all designed to help mums and dads make the most of every stage of their child's growing up.

At School

According to a DfES document 'Impact of Parental Involvement in Children's Education', research has shown 'conclusively that parental involvement does make a difference to pupils' engagement and their achievement and the evidence indicates that parental involvement benefits students, parents, teachers and schools.'

From helping children with the transition period from primary to secondary school, to holding events for parents in partnership with schools, to talking about everything from early years to teens, to producing relevant and accessible resource material, Parentalk seeks to help schools in the many different areas of parental involvement.

The Parentalk Schools Pack
An exciting new resource for secondary school teachers - a must for every teacher of PSHE.

There is lots of information out there on how to make a baby and how not to make a baby, but when it comes to the actual reality of caring for a child as it moves from the baby years, to childhood, to the teenage years and beyond, there remains relatively little resource material for schools.

The Parentalk Schools Pack aims to fill this important gap by educating young people in good parenting skills. It has been written for Year 10 and 11 pupils and is designed to meet the requirements of the PSHE curriculum in Key Stage 4 which states 'pupils should be taught about the role and responsibilities of a parent, and the qualities of good parenting and its value to family life' (DFES, Teachernet, PSHE Curriculum, Key Stage 4).

The 8 ready-made, stand-alone sessions are easy to use, interactive and discussion based and along with over 30 photocopiable activity sheets will reduce lesson preparation time for teachers.

"Parents have the biggest single influence on their children's lives and are their children's prime educators… That means parents supporting their child and respecting education, and correspondingly, teachers valuing parents and encouraging them to be involved."

Minister of State for Children,
